Cooran State School

Year 7

Welcome to 2008 one and all. Year 7 is an action packed year of excitement I am sure all students will enjoy. This term the class will study Australian Government and the leaders within government. The class will gain leadership skills for real life situations and exercise them in a range of scenarios such as researching and implementing a variety of leadership lessons to their peers.

They will also prepare and present a persuasive speech and encourage feedback on a specific topic. Students will also complete a biography of a past Australian Leader.

Home work is structured on a “work at home” mentality. The aim of the “work at home” grid is to acknowledge and recognise the wide range of after-school activities your children participate in already and credit them on their participation and achievements.

I believe the grid will encourage positive family interaction and allow relaxed time for children to pursue their own learning. All of this is to give the children life skills as well as academic skills to cope with life beyond school and beyond home.
