As of October 2006, schools have the right to develop and enforce a dress code for all students. We believe that our school uniform gives our students an identify, helps maintain a positive school environment and reduces competition, discrimination and distractions that may disrupt learning. We ask for your support in this regard.
A new school uniform was designed and introduced by the parent body early last year as a trial. From the beginning of 2007, children will be required to wear the new uniform which consists of a royal blue shirt with sky blue panel inserts, and features the school logo in white and “Cooran State School” in sky blue on the collar. The shorts or skirt are a choice of either plain royal blue shorts or netball style skirt or plain denim. (The denim must be a plain blue denim, not faded, torn or adorned. Skirts to be worn just above the knee.
Shirts, shorts and netball style skirts can be purchased from the Office at the following prices :
Hats of any style or type are an essential part of the uniform.
Shoes of any appropriatestyle can be worn, ie., NO thongs.
House shirts can also be purchased through the Officeat the start of Term 2. House shirts are considered as part of the school uniform so may be worn throughout the year.
Under the new legislation, schools can enforce the wearing of uniforms and consequences ie., detention can be imposed for continued non-compliance. Exceptional circumstances or hardship will be dealt with individually with compassion, however it is our aim that all children will wear the above uniform during 2007 and beyond.
Stud earrings and sleepers are permitted. No other jewellery or plastic wrist bands are to be worn. The dress code will be relaxed on special occasions, ie., end of term, Dress Down Day for Cancer.
